Why a shipping container is an ideal base for a sauna on water
A shipping container is built to withstand harsh conditions at sea, so its rigid, hard-wearing structure makes it well suited as a base for a mobile sauna on water. It holds its shape in changing weather and on moving water, which matters a great deal for a project like this. As a result, our sauna can sit firmly on the raft and last for years.
Modular sauna layout and features
Preparation for tiling is now complete. Window openings have been cut into the walls, and these will give a clear view of the water from both the sauna room and the changing room. The sauna has 2 main rooms, a changing room and a sauna room.
The changing room will have 4 power sockets for charging a phone, connecting speakers or plugging in a kettle. The sauna room will have 2 built-in LED lights, set behind the backrests and beneath the bench, giving the room a warm and welcoming feel.
A distinctive design feature is the side-mounted chimney, which leaves room for a terrace on top for relaxing and watching the water. The terrace will be a fine spot to take in fresh air and the surrounding nature from above.
A water supply line has also been prepared, giving access to water. A large electrical distribution box makes all the wiring reachable during repairs or maintenance, so there is no need to open up the walls to get to it.
Next steps
